Settings wont save in Apex, Full report and user solution.
Cause and effect:
Cloud storage function fails to upload new settings which causes the older settings to download/override the local/new settings in Apex.
This would make settings reset when restarting Apex Legends.
Edit: Origin Launcher has connection issues and fails upload setting changes properly.
User Solution:
Start off with uninstalling the origin launcher on its own.
Navigate here: C:\Users\"User"\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex
delete. the profile folder and go to the loacal folder.
delete. videoconfig.txt (video settings), settings.cfg (keybind settings) and previousgamestate.txt
Now a DNS flush:
- Hold down the Windows Key and press X.
- Click Command Prompt (Admin).
- When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
- Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
- Reboot your computer.
Clean temporary files:
Navigate to your dives location and right click your C: drive.
In properties click the disk cleanup and follows the prompts.
then wait for the clean to finish.
Install origin: https://www.origin.com/gbr/en-us/store/download
Open origin and go to the application settings in the top left under origin.
Go to the installs and saves tab, then disable cloud storage.
Run the game change the settings and restart the game.
Dev solution notes/ideas:
Something to detect local setting changes and prompt the user if they wish to use cloud settings. (if cloud is enabled)
Local settings are use by default and cloud settings are downloaded on request of the user.
User notes:
Flushing the DNS seems to have worked for me and cleaning my temp files.
I noticed this bug for me because settings kept reverting after restarting origin.
